Dark Arts are a small batch specialty coffee roasters based out of the London borough of Hackney.
Unapologetically offering another great coffee from Oaxaca. Despite a lot of economic growth in Mexico. The coffee-growing regions Oaxaca and Chiapas still struggle with poverty rates of 60 - 80%. This coupled with a decade long battle with Leaf Rust leading to a 90% decrease in production in some parts, means many producers are leaving their farms for Cities or to move to the U.S. Paraje Los Machos is an association of 180 of mostly Zapotec families from 3 cities in the Sierra Juarez. There is a strong sense of community here. When a family’s coffee is ready to harvest, they don’t hire pickers. But instead, their neighbours help hand pick the cherries. They do this in exchange for lunch being made for them on the workdays, and for help on their land when their coffee is ready.
Apricot acidity, cashew nut mouthfeel, and notes of chocolate.
