Made purely with the juice of pressed plump dates, Odysea date molasses is a caramel coloured, rich syrup with a deep, treacly sweetness and a thick, velvety smooth texture.
Persian semi-soft dates are used for the production of our molasses, lending a full, treacly flavour with a honeyed sweetness. Harvest time for the dates is between early autumn to end of October; dates are picked when semi-dry on the trees while still slightly soft and their colour is just turning from dark amber to caramel brown.
Date syrup or, as often referred to, date honey adds a depth of flavour and complexity to savoury dishes; perfect glazed over BBQ meats, used to dress roasted vegetables or baked into indulgent puddings.
Drizzle on top of porridge, yoghurt & ice-cream, blitz in smoothies or use instead of maple syrup on top of pancakes & french toast. Makes a healthier choice as a natural sweetener used in cakes, cookies & energy snacks.
Date syrup is a natural product that may crystallise over time and at cold temperatures. To clear, place bottle in a jug of hot water until crystals dissolve.
