2013 East Sussex, UK
Vintage conditions in 2013 created the perfect opportunity to produce this English wine of sublime structure, balance and finesse. It easily compares with Nyetimber for quality.
Chardonnay in the blend brings a note of citrus to the palate with lovely aromas of pastry and buttered toast on the nose.
The label design is inspired by Thomas Bewick (1753 – 1828), the Northumbrian artist acclaimed for his incredibly detailed, captivating wood-engravings of English life and nature. Bewick’s innate skill with this intricate medium proved transformative to the art of wood-engraving and the illustration of natural history. He was also known for his wicked, yet always sympathetic, humour - capturing drunks, louts and fools in the landscape of the day. Most of his pieces were engraved to be printed directly into books and are rarely larger than the palm of your hand, indeed he would sketch the idea on his thumbnail before committing to wood.
Try with caviar, freshly shucked oysters and smoked salmon.. or simply enjoy the delicate nature of this wine on its own.
